Treated timber for road improvements

Devices that improve the environment for users but also for residents.

Indeed, the timber is perfectly suitable for road infrastructures, whether in the area of safety (crash barriers), noise reduction (noise reducing screens) or the environment (wildlife crossings) while at the same time maintaining a natural aesthetic character.

Performances

The performances associated with
each type of product are defined
by several European standards.
These very technical products
are validated by tests to confirm
that their performance ability
corresponds to the given use. In
this context, CTB-B+ certification
guarantees the expected durabulity
for these uses. They are treated for
use class 4.
For particular structures, treatment
with « 4SP » retention offers
enhanced protection.

Installation

CTB-B+ treated timber ensures
the durability of these structures.
It should however :
• avoid water traps and retentions
on the exposed part above
the ground in contact with the
embankments by means of
appropriate drainage
• ensure the implementation of
drainage adapted to the base if
the embedded part has been cast
in concrete
• prohibit any machining after
treatment

Maintenance

CTB-B+ treated timber does
require the application of any
additional products to ensure
durability.
It should be maintained by cleaning
using a brush and/or water jet (high
pressure prohibited.

Universal use classes, specifications of different treatments :

Before choosing the timber species, please refer to the use class. Identical in every country, the uses classes define the situation of the timber in a particular structure. They do not, however, attest to its suitability for use. For the same use class, the treatment requirements may vary from country to country. Each species has its own characteristics in terms of natural durability (before treatment) and impregnability (capacity to retain the product). The allocation of a species to a use class determines how the timber should be treated. Its effectiveness depends on the selection of the timber, the quality and quantity of the product used and how the process is managed and controlled.
